What is Dog Bot 2.0?

Dog Bot 2.0 is an upgraded experimental robot built by FIRST Robotics Team 6528 Terror Bytes. Rebuilt this year with the same MAXTube chassis used on our competition bots, it provides new students with hands-on experience wiring the Rio2, coding, and mastering MAXSwerve driving. Beyond the classroom at SMS and CHS, we recently took Dog Bot 2.0 to Weiss Elementary for their Career Day to show the kids what robotics is all about. It also remains a highlight of our annual Carnival for a Cause, where students drive the robot to help raise money for the Special Olympics while building excitement for STEM.

Dog Bot 2.0: The Backstory

Dog Bot’s journey began in 2022, though it started with a much different identity. Originally built on a chassis purchased several years prior, the robot was first known as Mario Kart. In 2024, the team transitioned the platform into the original Dog Bot, serving as a dedicated trainer for new students. This year, in 2026, we completely remade the robot into Dog Bot 2.0. By upgrading the frame to the same MAXTube chassis used on our competition bots for the past few seasons, we’ve ensured that our training environment perfectly matches the technology we take to the field.
