The Kevin Spano Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to one graduating senior from Carlson High School in honor and remembrance of Kevin Spano - a beloved mentor, coach, and true champion of the Marauder Robotics program. Coach Spano (a graduate of Carlson High School) was an incredible inspiration to countless students at both the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) and FIRST Robotics Challenge (FRC) levels. His passion for robotics was unmistakable, and his dedication to students went far beyond expectations.

Coach Spano had a unique ability to bring learning to life. He enthusiastically guided students through the design process, hands-on robot construction, and programming, always encouraging creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving. He firmly believed that students learn best by doing, and he made robotics a place where hard work, curiosity, and fun came together. His commitment, generosity with his time, and genuine care for students left a lasting impact on everyone he worked with.

This scholarship is established by the Spano family to honor Kevin’s legacy and lifelong love of robotics. It celebrates a student who reflects the values Coach Spano embodied—dedication, collaboration, perseverance, and a passion for learning. While Coach Spano will be deeply missed, his influence lives on through the students he inspired and the program he helped shape. The Marauder Robotics community is forever grateful for everything he gave, and this scholarship serves as a lasting tribute to his remarkable life and service.
